FREE FANS AVAILABLE TO OLDER ADULTS IN THE UNIFOUR

 

            Duke Energy has contributed $40,000 to the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Service to assist in the purchase of fans for older adults.  We appreciate Duke Energy’s generosity and desire to help reduce the threat to the health and well-being of North Carolina’s older citizens during the 2008 summer season.

            The local Area Agency on Aging received their portion of the funding for Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties and were able to purchase 345 fans.  Home Depot in Hickory was very helpful and gave a discount on the cost of the fans.

 

            The eligibility requirements to receive a fan are:

 

·        Person must be 60 years or older.

·        Person must reside in a county that is served by Duke Energy.

·        Person must reside in a home situation which presents a threat to their health and well-being.
